Our Skilled Grantseeker Programme equips fundraisers with the essential skills required to be successful in raising funds from foundations and other institutional grantmakers.
It is the world’s most respected and in-depth high value fundraising training programme in grantseeking. We cover the fundamental skills of researching donors; developing successful proposals; building relationships; and planning and target setting.
Since 2013, over 300 organisations have put their staff on this programme, including The British Museum, Christian Aid, Child Bereavement UK, Opera North and Leonard Cheshire.
Previous programmes have spawned dozens of ongoing peer support networks – where people continue learning for years after the programme has ended.
For experienced fundraisers we offer a fresh and innovative approach. For new fundraisers we provide a comprehensive toolkit for a successful career in grantseeking.
The Spring 2020 Skilled Grantseeker Progamme was converted into an online learning experience. Arising from the success of this programme, from October to December 2020, we are offering the Skilled Grantseeker Programme as a selection of 14 online workshops, plus a personal mentor to help you with putting the learning into practice.
“These workshops have been magical. They showed me a different way of approaching my work and equipped me with lots of practical tips.” Petya Farnhill, Fundraising Manager, The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust
The 14 workshops are:
- Understanding Grantmakers
- Setting Research Aims
- Mastering the Research Tools
- Results Based Project Design
- The Art of Applications
- Persuasive Story Telling
- Developing a Prospect Pipeline
- Networking
- Negotiating
- Hunting in Pairs
- Target Setting Formulas
- Relationship Health Checks

Each workshop will be highly interactive, with participants doing pair and group work within virtual breakout rooms, investigating prepared case studies supplied as resource packs.
We have successfully converted our best exercises from the training courses into online experiences. We are also able to introduce a diverse range of new webinar presenters – they are all very experienced fundraisers. Your mentor will be one of these team members.
The workshops will last for 90 minutes and there is a limit of 24 participants.
